About the Event

This training will focus on the values, empathetic 'soft skills' and organisational culture underpinning good practice in involving volunteers. With engaging discussion and practical exercises, this course will demonstrate that providing a rewarding experience for volunteers can (and should!) be as socially valuable as the outer work and objectives of your organisation. In this course you will:

- Unpack common attitudes and practices towards volunteers

- Articulate your organisation's values and how they relate to your volunteering practice

- Learn how to harness diversity as a creative resource when recruiting and supporting volunteers

- Examine the journey of volunteers through your organisation and the aspirations, needs and contributions on both sides of this relationship

- Illustrate how volunteer-centred policies can help to reinforce your commitment to your volunteers, give you clear guidance for when relationships break down, and help you stay within the law.
